The installer, A Shade Greener Limited (ASG), is still an active company as confirmed by Companies House.

A Shade Greener Maintenance Limited (ASGM) is still an active company as confirmed by Companies House and is instructed to carry out the ongoing maintenance of the solar panels.

Both Companies are active and have not ceased trading; the solar panels on your property are still monitored and maintained by A Shade Greener Maintenance Ltd who will deal with any queries you may have via the contact details below.

Most mortgage providers will lend against a property which has A Shade Greener Maintenance Ltd managed solar panels.

A Shade Greener Maintenance Ltd provide a dedicated Legal Department to deal with any and all types of property transaction queries.

The Legal team regularly deal with a vast amount of mortgage companies who have no problem at all with ASGM Leased Solar Panels nor the Lease Agreements.

Countless property sales complete without ever needing A Shade Greener Maintenance Ltd’s involvement, we do ask that all new proprietors get in touch as soon as their property transaction has completed to ensure a seamless continuity of communication.

As part of the free installation of the solar system, you entered into a Lease agreement allowing tenancy rights to the owner of the solar system. This is registered as a separate Airspace Leasehold Title at HM Land Registry.

In some cases, as security against the system owner, not your property, a charge may be registered against that separate Leasehold Title.

In the past, a refundable deposit payment was taken to ensure the solar panels would be refitted without change to the configuration.

This Company policy was amended in 2023 and there is now no requirement for a refundable deposit payment when a temporary removal is requested.

As an alternative, a waiver letter is now requested from the homeowner to ensure that they understand their obligation for reinstallation under the Lease agreement.

The agreement entered into (or acquired with the purchase of the property) is a Landlord/Tenant Agreement governed by the Landlord and Tenant Act only.

You, the Landlord, are renting the airspace above your premises to a Corporate Tenant who owns the Solar equipment, in exchange for the use of all of the free electricity produced by that Solar System.

This is a Rent-a-Roof scheme that was introduced by the Government in 2009 known as the Feed in Tariff (FIT) initiative, that would provide ‘clean energy cash back’ to those who took advantage of the scheme. 

This initiative was taken up by A Shade Greener on behalf of householders, who didn’t have £18 - £20k available to purchase their own PV system. It meant those homeowners could at least take advantage of the FIT Scheme and benefit from the solar panels and the free electricity they generate at no cost to them.

A Shade Greener Ltd stopped installing solar panels in early 2016 due to changes in the FIT scheme.

Some companies like to make comparisons between the installation service they offer and the systems that A Shade Greener Ltd installed under the Rent-a-Roof Scheme.

Please be mindful that these Companies (often newly established and just starting their Solar install business) may be offering an entirely different business model to that which ASG offered some 10-15 years ago and are therefore incomparable.  

As many years have passed since A Shade Greener Ltd stopped installing new solar systems, the difference between these firms is significant enough that any comparisons made are obsolete.
