Saving Money With Solar Panels
Understanding Solar
You don't need to be a solar expert but knowing the basics is the best way to get started.
Whilst ever there is sunlight reaching the solar panels, they will absorb the solar energy.
The equipment inside the property then convert this into free electricity for you to use.

Check your household usage
How much electricity is used by a household varies greatly from household to household.
Not only do you need to take into account your larger, energy draining appliances. But also any items that are left switched on whilst they are not being used.
Take a look at the tables below to gain a better understanding where your energy usage comes from.
Your appliances will have access to any solar energy that is being generated at any given moment. However, if your energy demand is greater than what is being produced, the rest of the energy required will be taken from the national grid.
To limit this, try using your appliances one at a time.
For example, avoid using the kettle whilst the dishwasher is running. Once the dishwasher is no longer using electricity, there will be more available to power the kettle.
Keep your eye on the weather forecast
By watching out for the clear sunny days, you can make sure to use your most energy draining appliances when the panels are generating at their peak.
For example, doing a load of washing when the sun is shining rather than a dull and overcast day when generation will be lower.
Use goods during the day
Whilst phone chargers done consume vast amounts of energy on their own, it can soon add up when the whole family is charging their appliances too.
Avoid charging phones and other electronics at night to utilise the free solar electricity.

Set timers for larger items
If you will be out of the house during the day, but would still like to utilise the sunshine. Why not look at setting your appliances to run on a timer?
For example, if you will be out when the sun is to be at its peak, try setting your washing machine to begin its cycle while you are away.
Upgrade Appliances
Updating the older items in your home to more energy efficient alternatives is a great way to save money.
For example, swapping lightbulbs to LEDs or checking the energy efficiency of your new kettle before you buy it.
